Insufficient Funds is the second full length LP released by Young Coconut in 2009.
It's a bit of a concept album, in that YC got a different lead vocalist for every song on the album, and didn't sing any lead for the tracks this time around. Although, he did write all the songs, pretty much, or co-wrote them.
As far as the songs themselves go, it's yet another mixed bag of tracks, featuring songs that were even years earlier than the the recording of this album, from other bands YC was in, or culled from old tapes he'd made over the years.
To break it down, let's see here...Fifty Cent Carolinas was a song from one of YC's many 4-track tapes, Spiders was written on a trip to Montreal when he actually was in Old Montreal in a hostel, and busted out his guitar to try and commemorate his trip there, Compared to Claire was an old song of his with a different title that somehow got a little weirder over time, Torpedo is a song he wrote with his oldest band, Little Girl, Le$hark was an old Approachables song he wrote with his friend Adrian, Mind the Gap is a song he wrote on Garageband years ago, Velven Pages is a song he wrote for whatever reason with a weird name and weird chorus, ...and so forth, you get the idea!
